Hotflush / Scuba massive - surely the most productive
Dubstep imprint of recent times. "Fall" spans the a-side
here and despite its best efforts to drag you back into
dark autumnal evenings manages to evoke a hazy melancholy
that would be no doubt best enjoyed outdoors in sweltering
conditions. It's a track that relies on musical elements
that aren't often associated with this scene - shimmering
Rhodes and sudden changes all primed to tug at the
heartstrings, despite the fact that all along the bass
weighs proceedings down to an almost impossibly low
altitude. Beautiful stuff. "Winter Sun" is up next and is
more menacing - the chord progressions propelling the track
late into the night, its melody almost sounding like a
more morose take on the theme from Knight Rider. Another
brilliant transmission from Gravious and Scuba - get in.
