Tiger Stripes is Mikael Nordgren from Sweden. In the past,
he has also been producing as DMalicious and 12th Floor on influential labels such as King Street, Ibadan and Wave.
He also collaborated with Kerri Chandler and Jerome Sydenham.
As Tiger Stripes he dedicates himself to the fusion of soulful House and Garage elements with a more grabbing Techno aesthetic. In doing so,
he manages to cover all sorts of intensity levels, whereupon "Hooked", his contribution for liebe*detail, definetley resides at the upper end of the scale,
as it is a very electronic, pushing track wich still is aware of his roots in the north american House triangle New York/Chicago/Detroit,
but also manages to infuse it with a european Techno sensitivity.On the flip, Mladen Solomun from Hamburg,
owner of the label "Diynamic Music" and promoter of a party of the same name, explores a similar musical terrain, but he does so in a more deep and laid back way. At the core of his "Jungle River Cruise" is a solid House groove, too, but the references are different: On the one hand, Solomun uses south american percussion like the guica, as well as a correspondent vocal sample; on the other hand, his sonic inventory is clearly influenced by digital aesthetics which have been established by the recent wave of Minimal productions.
Thus, Solomun creates an area of friction which accumulates his track with a lovely warmth.
