16 Bit Lolitas-Non Verbal Language//Back To One-HOPE066-Vinyl-2007

Dutch duo Peter Kriek and Ariaan Olieroock had been making music on their own for some time before joining forces and becoming 16Bit Lolitas in 2003. This collaboration quckly produced a wave of releases on labels as diverse as Yoshitoshi, Alternative Route , Release, Sadie, Plastic Fantastic, Nu Republic, Armada, Minimal, DK and LMR. A hectic three years has propelled the boys into the spotlight where their crisp creations have carved out a sound that is both cool and sophisticated. It embraces all that is good about House.

Their remix of Loafer's 'Dirtbike' on Hope last year was one of our biggest sellers of 2006, and this is their first full release on the label.

M8 Magazine: M8/M8. The 16 bits start their ascension proper with these two tracks on the revamped Hope. Rare as it is to get a remix as good as the original here it is achieved with both mixes hitting the big numbers. The original is slightly more reserved and is likely to cross over to the housier heads reading this page. It's crisp, clean and beautifully produced. The remix opens up the throttle that tiny bit more, just squeezing a little more life out of it and taking into bumpier and darker terrain. Back To One is more dreamy and acts as a bridge between the two. I for one am intrigued with what these guys have to offer

IDJ Magazine: Bristol’s on form Hope Recordings picks up the latest from the prolific 16 Bit Lolitas who provide something a bit different from their past sounds. At the start they take a less is more approach but it becomes more and more of a journey with cinematic vocal samples and a subtle, rock bassline. There’s a dub on offer while Loafer delivers a more multi-layered, electronic mix loaded with more obvious hooks in a trancey ride. Finally there’s ‘Back ToOne’ - a brilliant, musical track from the Lolitas that is stunning and makes this essential.
